Take part in Farming Smarter’s event that welcomes the public to our research farm to learn about all aspects of agriculture Saturday, Aug. 17, 11-3pm!
Alberta Open Farm Days (OFD) is a province-wide initiative dedicated to showcasing farming to the non-farming community. Farming Smarter began participating in 2016 and we look forward to it every summer
By sharing what we love, we can increase understanding and feature our sustainable industry. We encourage everyone to come out and explore all the local facets of agriculture and much more!
Come for the fun. Leave a little wiser
Put Farming Smarter on your OFD tour itinerary!
We salute the other farms taking part in OFD in our region and we know seasoned public participants visit two or three farms on this day.
Make us your lunch stop and support EQUS through its charity barbecue. Then stop by the Sweet Spot Learn Center to see how your favorite snacks start as crops before digging into candy from How Sweet Inc.
Join us for a tour through the fields to learn more about crops and farming. Take part in an Agriculture Adventure through our learning booths in a fun scavenger hunt for swag! Pet a goat from Gentle Giant Acres! Stand before mighty farm equipment. Learn about all kinds of active non-profit organizations in this region.

Influence a Love of Agriculture
Farming Smarter offers opportunities to join us in a booth or sponsor us if you want people to see you support the largest, province-wide annual event that connects the public to the farming community. We offer booth spaces to non-profit organizations and small businesses on a pay as you can scheme. You can also look for a sponsor and give them recognition at your booth.
We typically see 300 – 350 people come to our event. We offer wagon rides, a BBQ and about 30 information booths for families to explore. Booths can sell products at their booths if they have any necessary license to do so.
Our location makes our event highly accessible, and our brand makes it a popular stop for many families. Come take part in southern Alberta’s largest OFD event and support agriculture advocacy in your unique way.
Have a look at the attached pdf for specific opportunities and call Claudette, 403-359-4471, with your ideas or questions. We welcome all kinds of support at this event.
